Our team were at Aultmore Primary School and Autism Unit, today, as we presented the Glasgow school with a grant to give the children a Christmas present each at the children’s primary one to three party.
Easterhouse is an area of Glasgow with high unemployment and social issues but at Aultmore Park the children are respected, nurtured, encouraged, supported in all areas of their education and wellbeing.
There are approximately 330 children attending the school aged between the ages of 5 and 11 years including the Autism Unit. As well as the children with Autism Spectrum Disorder many of the children attending the mainstream school have a variety of additional support needs.
Applications from projects in Glasgow opened in November and there were a number of entries ranging from social clubs to boys brigades and school parent councils to libraries.
The school’s head teacher warmly welcomed the Weatherseal Community Heroes grand.
Gillian Kierans said: “I am delighted that Aultmore Park Primary and Autism Unit has been chosen as this month’s Weatherseal Community Heroes recipient.
“The money will help us make Christmas special for pupils by providing Christmas parties with a treat from Santa for all. We are extremely grateful for this generous donation.”
