We had a brilliant morning today in Inverkip for our photo call to announce that Inverkip Carer and Toddler group is the next beneficiary of the #communityheroes fund!
Applications from projects in Inverclyde opened in October and there were a number of entries ranging from football clubs to garden associations and dance groups to singers. It was decided though to award the £500 bursary to the play group which they will put towards the purchase of new toys and equipment for the children to enjoy as well as go towards hall rental.
The toddler group had been running for over 25 years and was a well established community hub but 2 years ago the venue they operated out of was badly damaged by a storm. Since then it has been a struggle to keep running as they lost a lot of toys and equipment and were in desperate need for some additional funding.
Helen Starrett from Inverkip Carer and Toddler group said,
“We are delighted to be the recipients of the Weatherseal Community heroes fund; it will be a great help to keep our group up and running. Inverkip carer and toddler group is a great place for children to get together and interact with others and this bursary will go along way in ensuring we have good quality fun activities in the future. I would like to thank Weatherseal for choosing our application and I’m sure the children will benefit greatly from their generosity.”

Weatherseal has already gifted thousands of pounds including projects for the elderly, vulnerable, and young people and are on the look out for community groups in Falkirk and ABerdeen to award the next lot of funds. Get your applications in here!
