What is your role at 3TFM Community Radio for Health and what sort of duties do you have to carry out?
My role at 3tfm is that of Station Manager / Volunteer Coordinator. As Station Manager I schedule the programmes, the features on the programme output, attend meetings, keep the accounts up to date & keep in touch with each department to be kept up to speed with whats happening. My role of Volunteer Coordinator is to recruit new Volunteers, train them in whatever dept they wish to be involved in & organise outside events such as Roadshows within the Community.
What made you decide to apply for the Weatherseal Community Heroes Bursary?
3tfm is a community group which although a non-profit making organisation, relies on funding to financially sustain itself. Funding is used to pay licences eg PRS, Ofcom, IRN News etc. Although we have fund-raising events that help bring financial aid into 3tfm, National Stats have shown that the 3towns area is regarded as an area of deprivation & some fund-raising events can be poorly attended. Local businesses such as Weatherseal recognising local groups within the Community make a huge difference to a groups success.
Would you recommend other community groups to apply for the bursary and why?
Definitely would 100% recommend other groups to apply for the bursary…simply application form to fill in, excellent and regular updates throughout the progress of the application process & excellent mannerism from staff and publicity given to the group as well.
Don’t just take Louis’s word for it though! Our Motherwell and Stirling entries have had extended application deadlines (we will close these areas at the end of this Month) so get applying now!
